I never thought that launching my blog www.busiesholo.com in 2020 would bring me so much fulfillment. Today I am looking back with so much gratitude. Figure out what you want
There is no way you can chase something you do not know. The biggest reason why most of us do not get what we want is that we haven’t decided what that really is. You have to define what you want in clear and compelling detail. What you want shapes your actions, you act in a specific way because you want a specific outcome. Therefore if you aren’t clear about what you want it is very likely that the actions you take on a daily basis aren’t getting any closer to the life of your dreams.

Plan and execute – Don’t get stuck in planning mode
Sometimes the thing that stops us from creating the life of our dreams is getting stuck in planning paralysis. Yes, knowing what you want alone is not enough to get it. You have to plan, but more than that; you have to execute your plan! Nothing will work unless you do. Do not get so stuck in planning that you never do what you said you were going to do. Execution can be scary, but nothing will ever happen unless you execute.
Do it scared.
This ties so well with my previous point. Growth is scary, doing something can be nerve-wracking. I remember how scared I was to start the blog, questions like “Who wants to read what I mom that lost herself in motherhood has to say about motherhood?” However, the blog was a start and the journal wouldn’t be without the blog, I wouldn’t have figured out that there is something called a Mom life coach and I would have never pursued that as a vocation. My recent IG series called “Mom on Purpose with Busie Sholo” wouldn’t exist had I chickened out of starting my brand and launching my blog on the 6th of July 2020! So what I am saying is do it scared:
- Stop being afraid that you might make a mistake. The truth is you will and as long you learn from them that is absolutely okay.
- Don’t be afraid of what other people will think. As Bernard M. Baruch says “… Those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind”
- Do not be afraid of rejection, the truth is that it happens to the best of us. Affirm yourself and remember your worth. Take the lesson and do not question the value that you bring because of it.
Do not quit when you do not see results
The truth about choosing to go for what you want is that there is no guarantee that you will see the results quickly. James
Clear, in his book Atomic habits, mentions that as humans we have a bias toward instant gratification and that this sometimes can cause problems. You never really know how close you are to success, it could literally be around the corner. I am begging you not to stop, opportunities will come because people are looking even though it seems like they are not.
Pursuing your dreams is a big deal and it is a journey filled with a lot of lessons. These are a few valuable lessons that I have learned in the past few years on how to start creating the life of my dreams. I hope they will serve as encouragement for you to start and not give up until your dreams are a reality. Start creating the life of your dreams today mama!
